SWAK CARNIVAL-Part 3 Our engagement

Okay so at this point you are probably wondering that if we didn’t have a first date did we bother to get engaged …the answer is YES! October 11 2002..It was a Saturday. Hubby wanted to propose the day before so It would be 7 months to the day of our wedding…BUT hubby was an RA so he had to stay till all the other guys left for fall break! So Saturday morning we headed to my parents house in NE Pennsylvania. IT was cold and Dreary…AND VERY WET! Hubby had said that i would need lots of warm clothing but by the end I still ended up wearing his coat and his jacket….His intention was to take me on a hike at a state park near where I grew up and went to many times as a kid. There is a loop of trails that is littered with a ton of waterfalls. HOWEVER in this particular state park there have been numerous tragedies when it rains and people try to hike the falls! So we opted to just go down the hill and see the smallest one..and we went back to the van…We ate lunch and he asked me to go back with him….So at this point I need to explain some of our boundaries that we had set up so you will understand the significance of the following events. Our rules for courtship 1. No kissing until the end of our wedding ceremony 2. No true hugs until the day of our engagement and then only for that day 3. Only side hugs, holding hands and linked arms 4 no tickling So that being said when we were back down at the fall…Hubby wrapped his arms around me which at that point didn’t feel like much since I had 4 layers plus my regular clothes on…and whispered in my ear will you marry me..I said yes and we walked back to the van. (no he didn’t get down on one knee and there was no ring) He then pulled out he roses. They were beautiful..he then climbed the back seat and pulled out his violin case. tuned it and played a french Love song..(THAT IS THE NAME OF THE SONG!) Then there was one more gift. It was beautifully wrapped…..I opened it …I was a beatiful Jewelry box he had made for me….Actually he had made one for his mom and his grandma and for his brothers future wife….We all have matching ones Inside it’s two drewers is lined with red velvet. The top drawer had notes written by hubby to me and in the bottom drwer was a little black velvet box In the velvet box was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. It was white gold with a heart shaped stone in it.. the setting is very low just like i liked (my hands are VERY tiny…My ring size is a size 4) and it was plain and simple and very elegant…he knew the ring wasn’;t what mattered to me it was just the icing on the cake….. Stay tuned for part 4
