A Blonde Moment

Common be honest we all have them right? I do! My daughter at 2 has one every few hours! If not every hour…like clock work! But this blond moment came Saturday when I was talking on the phone to a long time friend…. The converstaion went something Like this Me: So if you are ever near the ***** area let us know and we’ll get together! Her: Oh my sister and her husband live there Me: Oh really which one? Her: UMMM isn’t there only one in the state of New York Me: I meant which sister!! LOL BOTH: Lots of Laughter Her: Yep I’m still a blond! She’s great and I hope we can get together sometime!!!

FALL PROJECT!

It seems as though as soon as fall weather hits out comes the tea , hot cocoa, and coffee and the sewing stuff so here’s my newest project of sorts…It’s granny squares that will get sewn together to make an afghan. Last week I mentioned in my day book entry that I was learning . I taught myself how by studying and studying some more a crochet pattern. (I am not very good at deciphering them. However after MANY hours I figured it out And here is what I have so far.

NOTE: the two in the middle with the edging are completed and the rest will get the same white edging on them.. I am being way more aggressive with projects this year!

So you may wonder where exactly i learned about these. Well a few years ago Hubby’s grandmother gave me a bunch of pre-made ones. I loved them BUT I had no idea what to do with them..So I decided to make an adventure of it. And thanks to a set of books from the 60’s and 70’s…AND YouTube, I was able to figure it out!

So here is what inspired me!

I Thought About Taking a Picture of Myself But…

I didn’t want to scare anybody! Something freakish happened to me this morning that I still don’t fully understand but it really changed the way I looked for about two hours! I was sitting in my rocking chair watching a TV show when my right eye started to water. I try to keep my fingers away from my eyes so I used my sleeve of a zip up jacket I was wearing to brush away the tears. (no I was not crying..My eyes tend to water a lot especially with allergies and headaches..i didn’t have a headache so I just assumed it was mild allergy symptoms…Boy was I wrong. I never have experienced allergies like I did today. Within minutes my right eye was almost completely swelled shut. I only had a small slit to see through and my left eye was working on catching up. Then all of a sudden my whole face started to itch…I thought I was going to go nuts. the last time I itched this bad was when i had my allergy test in High school. The determination I was allergic to everything in the state of PA except for cats. (the funny thing is I am allergic to cats and not to dogs but the test showed otherwise..lol) I remember digging my fingernails into the bed as I laid on my stomach waiting for the doctor to return to see the results…What torture The only thing I wanted to dig my nails into today was my face which i managed to refrain from doing to myself Praise the LORD!!!. I went to the bathroom to splash cold water on my face but what I saw when i turned on the light was scary. I looked as though I had Bells palsy (that’s where one side of your face becomes paralyzed and droops terribly). My right side of my face was all swollen and droopy. I looked like I was 60! I freaked! I called hubby to let him know what was going on! He was in the middle of something and that he would call back in 15 minutes. So I took an allergy pill which I prayed would work faster than normal..And then I took a shower. by this point my right arm was itching furiously as well. I am pretty sure that there was something on the jacket that caused this issue ! The problem is that once histamines start flying through your body you can have an allergic reaction anywhere so I was praying that all would work together and quickly…So after my shower my face was still itching quite a bit but some of the swelling had begun to subside! I used some astringent on my face to help clean away any missed residue. However I looked as though I had been punched my eye was still so swollen. Even the top eye lid was swollen. Now as I sit here writing this I have almost returned to normal. The jacket is in the washing machine as we speak and hopefully makeup will now cover my darkened eyes! But you wouldn’t have wanted to see it!

What I learned this weekend…

1. Non-rechargeable batters don’t belong in a battery charger! (oops!)

2. toddlers and grocery carts don’t mix! Here’s the proof.

Yes that is a bloody Jacket hood. it was saturated

Yes that is 3 staples in my little Girls head

3. Some churches just can’t accept the word “NO”

All of these things have fairly interesting stories behind them…The most interesting of which is how Lady bug (yes it was my little girl) got three staples on the side of her head!

Well we were grocery shopping on Friday night. She was riding in the back of a cart…she usually sits very well however she must have seen something she wanted and stood up…As she did so we think her jacket got caught on a shelf and she fell out of the cart hitting her head on the corner of a sharp shelf…She landed on her feet.

She cried and cried and Hubby scooped her up. He was trying to console her when people from the store started Sir sir she’s bleeding. There was blood on the floor and blood all down hubby’s back! He took off to the bathroom! I was left standing dumbstruck with two carts and two kids!…I waited and waited and waited. He never came back for me so pulling one cart and pushing another I made my way to the front of the store where I saw hubby and Lady Bug perched on a counter and hubby was on the phone. Instinctively I knew who he was talking to but I had to know for sure…Yep it was a 9-1-1 dispatcher. Shakily I showed s a cashier where it happened and checked out.

The paramedics showed up and wrapped up her head as though she had just had Major brain surgery! She hated it but it was kinda cute (NoW!). We then decided we would take her to the ER ourselves…since she landed on her feet We got to the hospital and went through a fast track.. She got three staples and she didn’t cry until the last one. I think i would have been crying from the very beginning but the little bug had been bouncing off the walls since i got her there. She was climbing everywhere!

At the end of it all she got a very cute teddy bear and a whole stack of Stickies as she calls them (stickers)…She was a Pied piper as we left the hospital. And I can safely say I NEVER want to go through that AGAIN!

Needless to say whenever we go to the grocery store we will be taking the double stroller with us!
